Hull Design The Basic Rules to Follow
The hull is the basic structure of any boat or yacht or even a big liner. If the design of this structure fails then the entire boat is jeopardized. To manufacture a hull there are guided rules to be followed. It is the critical component of a boat or Yacht or the ship.
The hull design is structured by taking into account the material to be used in the boat. A wooden boat will have a different design than a steel bodied boat. Primarily the hull should be strong, simple and have the accurate weight to keep the boat floating just above the water. It is to be placed in between the stern and the bows, at a perfect point. 
Hull design ensures the boat to remain steady in water. To make a hull is not difficult but basic points are; for example in a ballasted boat the weight of the boat should be fifty percent greater than the weight of the ballast. It should be designed in such a way that the ballast is always below the waterline. The hull is always underneath the water and at the bottom of the boat.
We have two main categories of hull design; planing hulls and the displacement hulls. The planning hulls are designed to ride on water without being considerate of the weight of the boat. This type of hull design is used for speedboats but is unsuitable for rough waters. Displacement hull design is made with the principle of displacing water equivalent to the weight of the boat. These types of hulls are used for long distance travels.
